The idea of creating Foivos started ten years ago and it is about the result of the common action of the touristic marketing people. The name of Apollo ( Phoebus ), more easily called nowadays Foivos, symbolizes the “ harmonious ” coexistence of knowledge, beauty and quality.

Our first wine was called “ armonia ” and was bottled in terms of a souvenir to the foreign tourists of the famous brand “ Armonia ”. There has been a coordination with the famous variety Roditis of Peloponnisos and was bottled in a local bottling factory.

This very first time brought us in contact with the wine and its intoxicating secrets.

Thus, the traditional wine factory and the 65.000 m2 were bought in Vatsa in Paliki of Kefalonia having Moschato and Mavrodaphni as the main varieties of the wine yard.
Foivos Manor disposes of mature longevous wine yards and, after consulting vine growers and wine makers of Switzerland, the decision to take advantage of the quality of the longevous vines that survived for decades now was taken. These vines, due to their maturity, can offer their best but in smaller production quantities than usual.

The combination of the extraordinary local varieties with the age maturity of the vineyard, the mild biological cultivation with the ideal climate of Kefalonia, the common effort with the longing of the wine maker Th. Orkopoulos, the traditional vinification methods with the full turning of the new technology into advantage, using the cooling procedures and the modern equipment, brought the extraordinary result that you are called to enjoy…

Our wine was created as a result of a poetic pursuit, we have concentrated in that the wandering in Life along with the mastery of the Kefalonian motherland of Homeric Ulysses. The inspiration from Seferis’ lyrics



offered a target, power and clarity to our wine which is unfortunately rare in our days.
